Ecclesiastes was right. We are like passings of the wind. We chose things to fill our minds and our eyes and our time and our bodies with, but without them, we quickly become nothing. Perhaps we also lose thought as we cease to have things to think about, or the capacity to speak if we cease to have those to speak with. That’s why I say, “when we’re all dead and in heaven, what are we going to talk about?” That’s why I also say, “things possess us.”
